EV charging stations in the UAE: the map, every network’s price, by emirate

As of October 2026 our map holds 376 public charging sites in six emirates, each with its source and date, and Dubai alone counted 2,223 public charge points across all operators at the end of March 2026 (Gulf Today, 4 Jul 2026). EV chargers across the UAE on one map, with the source and date of every value. Search by name, tap Near me, or filter by your car’s port. Not live: check the operator’s app before you drive.

Public EV charging in the UAE runs on a handful of networks: DEWA in Dubai, ADNOC Distribution’s E2GO chargers on its petrol stations, UAEV (the federal network, strongest in the northern emirates), Tesla’s Superchargers for Teslas, Barq in Abu Dhabi, ION in Sharjah and charge&go. BMW’s dealer, AGMC, lists chargers at hotels, clubs, offices and residential towers, and our map holds 45 of its sites across five emirates; it does not say who may use them, so ask the venue. Prices sit on a federal minimum of AED 0.70 per kWh on AC and AED 1.20 on DC, plus VAT (Cabinet Decision 81 of 2024). Open any charger on the map for its connectors, the network’s price and the date we last checked it. Tesla’s sites were read on 28 Sep and 2 Oct 2026; the DEWA layer is DEWA’s open data as loaded on 6 Apr 2026, ADNOC is from 22 Apr 2026 and BMW from 20 Apr 2026.

The networks and what they charge

One row per network, each with its source and the date we read it. A network may charge more than the federal minimum, never less.

The same rates sit on our cost page as what each network charges, dated, next to the per-100 km math. Hotels and malls add a slower layer of destination chargers at hotels and malls, often free for guests.

The apps you need

• DEWA app for DEWA chargers in Dubai. No account? DEWA’s Guest Mode takes a card or Apple Pay through the QR code on the charger.
• Tesla app for Superchargers (Teslas only); billing is automatic through your Tesla account.
• ADNOC Distribution app for E2GO chargers on ADNOC stations.
• UAEV app for the federal network, mostly in the northern emirates.
• Barq.EV in Abu Dhabi, where every fourth charge is free (reported at launch, January 2026).

No single app covers every network, which is why most drivers keep three or four.

The northern emirates and the East Coast

Our map is thin here, and the road is not as empty as the map. The network that covers most of the north is UAEV, which says it runs chargers in all seven emirates and is strongest in Ajman, Umm Al Quwain, Ras Al Khaimah and Fujairah (Aletihad, 22 Apr 2025); we do not yet hold its sites. Ras Al Khaimah’s transport authority signed with UAEV to install chargers across the emirate (RAKTA, 16 Oct 2024). In Sharjah, ION runs DC chargers at ENOC stations and signed a partnership with the Sharjah roads authority in April 2026 (BEEAH, 21 Apr 2026).

Tesla drivers have Superchargers at City Centre Sharjah, Suyoh Mall, City Centre Ajman, Al Naeem Mall in Ras Al Khaimah and Century Mall in Fujairah (Tesla, read 28 Sep 2026). UAE Superchargers charge AED 1.26 per kWh (Tesla app, 15 Oct 2026). There is no Supercharger in Umm Al Quwain.

Where to plan ahead: the East Coast south of Fujairah city (Kalba, Khor Fakkan) and the E84 through the tunnels, where we could not confirm a DC fast charger from any operator, and the E44 from Al Aweer to Hatta. Hatta itself has a Tesla Supercharger and DEWA DC chargers. Arrive at Fujairah with charge in hand.

DEWA Green Chargers in Dubai: 22 kW AC posts, 50 and 150 kW DC, and Guest Mode

DEWA’s EV Green Charger network is Dubai’s public backbone: 239 DEWA sites sit on our map, 34 of them with DC chargers (DEWA open data as loaded on 6 Apr 2026). It bills AED 0.70 per kWh on AC and AED 1.20 on DC, plus VAT, AED 0.735 and AED 1.26 in total, the federal minimum (Gulf News, 22 Jul 2026).

There are three ways to pay: the DEWA app or an EV Green Charger card, both billed to your DEWA account, or Guest Mode, where you scan the QR code on the charger and pay by card or Apple Pay; DEWA holds an amount, then bills what you use. A registered account takes a security deposit of AED 500, and the card costs AED 20 to deliver (Gulf News, 11 Jan 2025). DEWA lists no idle fee. The network started in 2014 as a free service and free charging for registered users ended with 2021; the rest of that history is on our EV rules and perks page. If you read “38 fils per kWh” for DEWA elsewhere, that is DEWA’s rate from June 2023, before the federal tariff (Khaleej Times, 5 Aug 2024).

Abu Dhabi: ADNOC E2GO on the petrol stations, Barq at 360 kW, Tesla for Teslas

Abu Dhabi’s public charging runs mostly on ADNOC Distribution’s E2GO DC chargers at its petrol stations, up to 180 kW. ADNOC had nearly 370 charge points in the UAE in January 2026, when it opened a 60-point hub at Saih Shuaib on the E11 between Abu Dhabi and Dubai (ChargedEVs, 15 Jan 2026). E2GO bills per kWh through the ADNOC Distribution app, at no less than the federal DC minimum of AED 1.26 including VAT; the app shows the rate and any overstay fee. Our map holds 35 sites in the emirate, including 19 ADNOC stations from ADNOC’s finder as pulled on 22 Apr 2026.

Barq, from the Department of Energy and TAQA Distribution, opened in January 2026 with 50 chargers at 360 kW across Abu Dhabi, Al Ain and Al Dhafra. Gulf News reported at launch that the first phase was free and that every fourth session is complimentary (Gulf News, 10 Jan 2026); Barq has published no per-kWh price. Tesla has 8 Supercharger sites with 51 stalls in the emirate for Teslas only, plus the two Jebel Ali sites on the E11 (Tesla, read 28 Sep 2026).

At home, Abu Dhabi’s 2021 rules have a registered home charger billed a flat AED 92 a month until a dedicated EV meter is fitted, then 30 fils per kWh (Abu Dhabi Media Office, 16 Aug 2021). We found no newer tariff; ask your Abu Dhabi utility for the current rate. The site list is under Abu Dhabi below the map, and the Tesla Superchargers in the emirate are on our Supercharger page.

How to charge at a public station, step by step: four apps, one pattern

DEWA, as a registered user:

1. Open the DEWA app and select the station and charger.
2. Scan the QR code on the charger, or tap your EV Green Charger card on the reader.
3. Plug in, Type 2 or CCS2, and confirm the start in the app.
4. Unplug when done; the session ends and bills your DEWA account.

DEWA, as a guest:

1. Scan the QR code on the charger.
2. Pick a package and pay by card or Apple Pay.
3. Plug in and charge; DEWA bills what you use.

Tesla Supercharger, Teslas only:

1. Park at a stall and plug in.
2. Charging starts on its own and bills your Tesla account.
3. Unplug and leave when the app tells you the car is ready.

ADNOC E2GO, UAEV, Barq and ION: download the network’s app, register, add a payment card, then scan the charger’s QR code or pick it on the app’s map to start. Each network needs its own app, which is why most drivers keep three or four.

Plugs and speeds: 200 km takes about 5 hours at 7 kW and about 45 minutes at 50 kW

• Type 2: the AC plug on public chargers here, and the AC inlet on GCC-spec EVs except the Cybertruck, which has a NACS port.
• CCS2: the DC fast-charging standard, Type 2 with two DC pins below. GCC-spec Teslas, BMW, Mercedes, BYD, Hyundai, Kia and most other brands use it.
• CHAdeMO: the older DC plug of the Nissan Leaf and some Mitsubishis. DEWA’s 50 kW units still carry it.
• NACS and GB/T: the North American and Chinese plugs. No UAE Supercharger is NACS, so a US-spec or China-spec import needs an adapter almost everywhere.

The table divides the energy for 200 km, 35.8 kWh at 17.9 kWh per 100 km, by each charger’s rated power. Real sessions run longer: DC power falls as the battery fills, and a hot pack tapers in summer. A car can also draw no more AC power than its onboard charger allows, 11 kW in a Tesla.

Your first month with an EV in Dubai: apps in week 1, a road trip in week 4

Week 1, the apps. Install the DEWA app, the ADNOC Distribution app and the UAEV app before you need them; a Tesla adds the Tesla app. Activating an app at a charger with 9% battery on a Friday evening is the hard way to learn.

Week 2, the map. Pan the map above around your home and office and tap the pins. DEWA’s points spread across the whole city, ADNOC’s line the E11, and Tesla’s sit at the big malls. Twenty minutes gives you a working picture of which network lives where.

Week 3, home. In a villa, a DEWA-approved contractor fits a wallbox on a dedicated circuit behind your meter, billed at your residential rate. Installers quote from about AED 2,000 for the box plus AED 800 to 2,500 for the work (a Dubai installer’s 2026 guide); treat these as vendor quotes and get two. In an apartment, the building’s no-objection certificate is the gate, and the queue can run for months, so start early. Our home charging guide walks the process.

Week 4, a road trip. Pick Fujairah, Hatta or Al Ain, plan one charge stop, arrive at it with 15 to 20% charge and allow 40 minutes. Two gaps to know: we found no DC charger on the E44 between Al Aweer and Hatta, and Khor Fakkan and Kalba had AC chargers only when we checked.

Two figures circulate without an official pledge behind them. The “70,000 chargers” figure dates from the January 2023 launch of E2GO, ADNOC Distribution and TAQA’s joint venture, as an estimate of the charge points needed by 2030 (Gulf News, 19 Jan 2023), and the “DEWA 10,000 chargers by 2026” figure traces to an unofficial website; we found no such target from DEWA.

How many public EV charging stations are there in the UAE?

More than our map shows. As of October 2026 our map holds 376 sites. Dubai counted 2,223 public charge points across all licensed operators at the end of March 2026 (Gulf Today, 4 Jul 2026). Our map holds the sites we have data for, with the date of each; UAEV, charge&go, ION and Barq are not on it yet.

How much does public EV charging cost?

At least AED 0.70 per kWh on AC and AED 1.20 on DC, plus VAT, under Cabinet Decision 81 of 2024. Tesla charges Teslas AED 1.26 per kWh including VAT at its UAE Superchargers (Tesla app, 15 Oct 2026); its free period from 17 March 2026 has ended. The table above has every network’s rate with its date.

Is EV charging free anywhere in the UAE?

In a few places. Barq in Abu Dhabi makes every fourth charge free (reported at launch, January 2026), and some malls and hotels offer free AC charging to customers. DEWA’s free charging for registered users ended with 2021 (DEWA, 2019 announcement).

Can a non-Tesla EV use Tesla Superchargers in the UAE?

No. Every UAE Supercharger in Tesla’s data is marked Tesla Only (read 28 Sep 2026).

How current is this map?

Not live. Each value carries its source and the date we read it, and a value past its check window says so. Check the operator’s app before a long drive.
