What Tesla tests

FSD (Supervised). The car steers, brakes and changes lanes by itself while a driver watches and takes over when needed. It is not a driverless robotaxi.

Abu Dhabi

Road trials started in Feb 2026, overseen by the Integrated Transport Centre with the Smart and Autonomous Systems Council and the UAE Cabinet's Legislation Lab.

Dubai

Tesla held trials at Dubai Mobility Labs in Dubai Silicon Oasis, RTA's test ground that opened in Sep 2026. Trials there run on closed tracks and on public roads from Dubai Silicon Oasis to Al Qudra.

In Jun 2026 Tesla also advertised a Dubai job for a driver to collect FSD data.

When owners get it

Elon Musk said in Dec 2025 that he hoped for the next month. By Oct 2026 FSD was still not switched on for UAE owners, and Tesla listed the UAE as pending approval in Jun 2026.

Tesla and the Dubai Loop

A separate project. The Boring Company is building 6.4 km of tunnels from DIFC to Dubai Mall, and Teslas will carry riders there, with a driver at first.

Tesla's own robotaxi is the Cybercab, in production in Texas since the second quarter of 2026. It has not come to the UAE; here Tesla tests with a driver in the seat and has not said which models.
